Thursday, 16 November 2006:

I was so exhausted last night I fell into bed and dreamland as soon as I got my stuff unloaded and into the room. During the night that storm moved through - I could hear thunder crashing all around and the rain pounding down. I have a very nice weatherproof cover for my bike, so no biggee. I woke up about 06:30 and packed the bike for the last leg - I am making Tampa tonight no matter what. I got the load packed up and loaded not too badly, although it took forever. I am beginning to understand that I don't have to unload the whole thing and take it in each night. Next time I'll have a good feel for how to pack a small overnight bag with my toiletries, change of clothing, etc., and just take that inside. This is why they call these things "shakedown cruises".

The weather is much cooler but bright and clear. Rode all day long like the road warrior I am becoming and got to my sister's house in Valrico, FL about 22:00. She just about split a gut when she saw the load on the back of the bike. I fell into bed and slept like Rip van Winkle.

Tomorrow I have to unpack a lot of stuff before my sister takes me to a Tampa Bay Lightning game in the evening . She and my brother-in-law have Club Level seats, so I will be treated like the honored guest I always thought I was before I came to my senses.
